High Frequency Words Ice Cream Scoops A student receives a “scoop” when he/she can read the words on the corresponding list.

Each student has color coordinated  (Scoop 1, Scoop 2…) High Frequency Words on a ring to practice with her/his mentor.

Using this Scrabble game (Alicia found at Five and Under) the student and mentor scoop letters to see who can make the word on the ring first,

If you scoop a fly, you lose all your letters!

2. For students to practice making/drawing letters: hair gel in a zip lock bag. You can mix food coloring into it.

3. Shaving cream: put a small dollop on the desk and the student practices making the letters.
