Thank you Alicia!
Recently I saw these ideas while visiting Alicia:
High Frequency Words Ice Cream Scoops A student receives a “scoop” when he/she can read the words on the corresponding list.
Each student has color coordinated (Scoop 1, Scoop 2…) High Frequency Words on a ring to practice with her/his mentor.
Using this Scrabble game (Alicia found at Five and Under) the student and mentor scoop letters to see who can make the word on the ring first,
If you scoop a fly, you lose all your letters!
Mini Fly Swatters: Student finds the word in the room and “swats” it!

Mentor Appreciation Ideas
1. For October, her students had a pointer (see photo) to wear as he/she pointed to the words being read.
She has turkeys to wear on a finger for November! Alicia found these at Oriental Trading Company.
2. For students to practice making/drawing letters: hair gel in a zip lock bag. You can mix food coloring into it.

3. Shaving cream: put a small dollop on the desk and the student practices making the letters.
